The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

Daytona 500: NASCAR betting preview and picks

Greg Engle is the editor in chief for the popular NASCAR blog, CupScene.com. He correctly picked Kurt Busch (+700) and Jeff Burton (+1,000) to win their respective Gatorade Duels Thursday.

NASCAR’s season-opening Daytona 500 has been a 500-mile test of man and machine for 53 years. It’s a race rich in tradition and historic moments.

This year, however, the playing field itself has changed. The 2.5-mile speedway underwent a repaving in the offseason and this year drivers were greeted with an entirely new way to race.

No longer are huge packs of cars the norm. Now, it’s all about a two-car breakaway. And, with the new surface, the racing groove is no longer confined to one or two lanes. Much like its sister track Talladega, which underwent a similar repaving a few years ago, Daytona now allows cars to use the entire surface to race on. Unlike Talladega, however, Daytona isn’t as wide making three-wide racing a bit more nerve wracking.

“It's a lot hairier,” said 2007 Daytona 500 winner Kevin Harvick.”It's a lot easier now with the pavement, and the grip level that you have on the race track. It's not that big of a deal, but definitely a lot hairier than Talladega. At Daytona, it feels like it's half the width of Talladega, It's just a lot narrower than Talladega is. You definitely feel like you have a lot less room."

But has the new surface changed the game? Will those who have always run well at Daytona now find that those who have struggled at NASCAR’s superspeedways are on the same level? Not according to six-time Daytona winner Jeff Gordon, who points out the one element that he has over others.

“The game has changed,” Gordon said. “(But) you can't take knowledge and throw it away. Once you have it, you have it, you maintain it, you apply it. No matter what changes from now, if anything, to Sunday we're still going to have that knowledge. We'll try to use it to our advantage.”

After last Saturday night’s Budweiser Shootout, featuring speeds of 206 miles per hour, NASCAR has worked all week to slow the cars down. That’s yet another variable that will affect the racing Sunday. However, despite whatever changes NASCAR decides to try, drivers are expecting a race close to what was seen in the Shootout, which saw a race-record 28 lead changes in the 75-lap event.

“The race was really interesting,” said Dale Earnhardt Jr., one of the acknowledged masters of racing at Daytona and Talladega. “It's something new. We'll have a good race regardless of what the package is. And the changes that NASCAR decides to make may change the racing just a little bit. But they're smart enough to know we're so far into the game right now for this particular event, there won't be a big swing at it.”

Earnhardt will certainly have his work cut out for him Sunday. After winning the pole last Sunday, Earnhardt crashed his car in Wednesday’s practice. His Hendrick Motorsports team was forced to break out the backup car, a move that sends Earnhardt to the rear of the field Sunday.

As for a favorite Sunday, look no further than a driver with an Earnhardt Childress Racing engine under the hood. ECR engines swept the 2010 restrictor plate races (Jamie McMurray and Kevin Harvick at Daytona, Harvick and Clint Bowyer at Talladega). It was the first time an engine manufacturer completed the sweep since Dale Earnhardt Incorporated and Richard Childress Racing worked together in a technology partnership as part of RAD (RCR, Andy Petree Racing and DEI), sweeping all four plate races in 2001.

With the strength he’s shown this week and an ECR engine under the hood, Kevin Harvick is poised to win his second Daytona 500. Harvick was third in his Gatorade Duel qualifying race Thursday. But don’t count out Jamie McMurray, last year’s winner and another driver with ECR power. McMurray finished sixth in his Duel Thursday.

The other driver to watch will be Harvick’s RCR teammate, Jeff Burton. Burton and fellow RCR driver Clint Bowyer also have ECR engines. Burton won the second Duel Thursday with Bowyer in tow. Bowyer may be a threat but lacks the experience to be counted among the favorites.

The biggest spoiler will be Kurt Busch. Despite a lack of Dodge’s in the field, Busch has won both the Budweiser Shootout last Saturday and the first Gatorade Duel qualifying race Thursday. No driver has ever completed a sweep of three races during Daytona Speedweeks, so the odds are definitely stacked against him.

Kevin Harvick+700
Jamie McMurray+1200
Jeff Burton+1200

Cram Session: Betting college basketball halftime odds

At this point in the season, when lines are sharp and teams are playing to their averages more consistently, betting college basketball can be treacherous. Be careful out there.

The solution to survival might be halftime lines.

“Believe it or not, we sometimes get more money on the half than we do on the whole game,” said John Avello, sportsbook manager at the Las Vegas Wynn.

A lot of that halftime money is sharp, because wiseguys, like Covers Expert Ted Sevransky, know that halftime lines are often soaked in value.

“Halftime wagering is a key element of the successful handicapper’s arsenal,” Sevransky once wrote. “This includes both games that were bet on from the beginning as well as games that were not bet on before the game started. An astute halftime bettor can use a wager at the half to fulfill all kinds of useful functions.”

Almost all halftime lines are produced in-house at sportsbooks. The Las Vegas Sports Consultants only sends out halftime lines on college basketball during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Until then, most books are on their own.

At the offshore sportsbook BetCris.com, one manager may be responsible for the halftime lines on any given night. It can get hectic.

“Since you don’t see every game and you can’t see the tempo and you can’t really pay attention, because you’re doing other things,” explained a BetCris manager who goes by Jack. “It’s more a derivative from whatever the score is at halftime balanced by what the spread is for the game.”

For example, if Ohio State was favored by 6 over Purdue and led 33-30 at halftime, the generic halftime line would be Ohio State -3 in the second half. In-game situations, including injuries and foul trouble, also are considered when making the halftime line.

BetCris uses a news service to help track in-game injuries. Georgetown leading scorer Austin Freeman injured his ankle late in the second half against Marquette on Sunday. BetCris received an alert and factored the injury into the halftime line. Marquette, a 6-point underdog, led the Hoyas 35-31 at half. Georgetown was -5 for the second half and covered both the overall side and in the second half of a 69-60 comeback win.

The Hoyas’ win is a good example of the value a halftime line creates. If Georgetown, trailing by four at half, is favored to win the second half by five points, that
means you’re actually getting the Hoyas at -1 for the game. Obviously, that would have been an attractive bet before the game.

It’s not always something that happens in the game that has the most impact on the halftime line, either. Sometimes books will use halftime lines to hedge their bets if they’re heavy on one side or the other for the game.

“That’s actually an advantage to the customer,” said John Avello, sportsbook manager at the Las Vegas Wynn. “You’re basically trying to get off the game a little bit, which creates some value in the second half.

Avello used Kansas State’s stunning 16-point beat down of No. 1 Kansas on Monday as an example. Kansas was a 6.5-point favorite for the game and trailed by nine at halftime. The halftime line was Kansas -7.

“If I had ton of money on Kansas in that spot, I may open Kansas as much as 8 or 10,” said Avello. “If I’m absolutely loaded on Kansas money in that spot, I might put up Kansas at -10 or -8 and try to pick up both bets.”

Best first and second-half bets

Some teams play at a tempo that is hard to adjust to in the first half. Some coaches are excellent at making halftime adjustments and get their teams to peak in the second half. Here is a quick look at some of the best first- and second-hard teams this year:

First-half moneymakers

Brigham Young: Coach Dave Rose’s team is a great bet in February, covering 30 of its last 40 games during the month. But the Cougars also are great at jumping on teams early. BYU has outscored opponents 1,113-943 in the first half, an average margin of 9.57 points.

Washington: It can take a while to adjust to coach Lorenzo Romar’s up-tempo style. While opponents try to make those adjustments, the Huskies pounce. Washington is outscoring opponents by an average of 10.25 points.

Pittsburgh: The Panthers have jumped on opponents early, outscoring them by 226 points in the first half. A physical defense is major factor in the fast starts. Opponents have scored only 664 points in the first half against Pitt, among the fewest in the nation.

Second-half cash cows

Texas: The Horns go eight-deep and really have some serious talent coming off the bench. As a result, they have been able to wear teams down in the second half. Texas has outscored its opponents 993-809 in the second half, an average margin of seven points.

Ohio State: The Buckeyes commit the second-fewest fouls in the nation. Florida is No. 1. Ohio State’s sound defense keeps opponents off the free-throw line and has allowed Thad Motta’s team to pull away in the second half. Even after blowing a 15-point lead in the second half to Wisconsin, the Buckeyes have outscored their opponents by 8.3 points per game.

George Mason: You might have to search a little to find halftime lines on Patriots’ games, but there’s value to be had. George Mason has outscored opponents by 174 points in the second half this season, an average margin of 6.96 points per game.

Saturday's Best basketball Bets

Texas Longhorns at Nebraska Cornhuskers (+7)

This game could set offensive hoops backwards. The Cornhuskers are a solid home team, going 15-1 at Bob Devaney Sports Center this season thanks to a strong defense. Overall, the under has gone a stunning 27-9 in the team’s past 36 home games.

"I think we can defend," Nebraska coach Doc Sadler said of his team hosting Texas, "but scoring is going to be the issue. They are definitely the best defensive team I've ever coached against."

But again, the Cornhuskers know a thing or two about defense.

The Huskers have the best scoring defense overall this season in the Big 12 and are second in league games in giving up just 66.4 points per game. However, Texas has improved in conference play, leading the league in opponents points per game at 54.6 per night.

The Longhorns have held three conference opponents under 50 points. Opposing teams also are making a league-low 36.3 percent of their shots and a mere 23.2 percent of their three-pointers. All those averages are on pace to set records for the 15-year old conference.

Not surprisingly, the team has seen the under hit in 15 of its past 18 games overall and in 10 of its past 11 Big 12 contests.

"This team has played about as well defensively over the last month as any team we've had," Texas coach Rick Barnes said.

Pick: Under

Boston College Eagles at North Carolina Tar Heels (-11.5, 152.5)

If anyone isn’t sure if the Tar Heels are a contender for a Final Four berth, they didn’t watch the last time these two teams clashed. North Carolina smashed Boston College on Chestnut Hill on the first day of February, 106-74 behind the insertion of young guard Kendall Marshall into the starting lineup.

The freshman is averaging just 5.1 points and 5.1 assists per game this year, but over his past five games is putting up averages of 9 points and 8 assists each time out.
“We just wanted to come out here with a swagger, with an edge to us, and basically show that we’re still North Carolina,’’ Marshall said. “One player doesn’t make our program. And I think it says a lot about our character.”

Meantime, the Eagles have dropped four of their past six games, with home wins over Virginia Tech and Maryland coming by a combined six points. And don’t expect star guard Reggie Jackson to provide too much of a spark for Boston College.

Jackson is averaging 18.5 points, 4.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game this season and has notched a combined 58 points his past two games. However, in the loss to North Carolina, he had a mere 6 points in 31 minutes.

Pick: North Carolina

Hockey Night In Canada: NHL Betting Preview

Ottawa Senators at Toronto Maple Leafs (-184, 5.5)

There have been sassier, more star-laden matchups in this heated rivalry. But if the old cliché that says “you can throw the records away when these two teams get together” holds, the primetime audience could be in for a treat.

Trading in Toronto

After weeks of speculation and some other trades along the way, the Maple Leafs finally pulled off the big one on Friday, sending defenseman Tomas Kaberle to Boston for prospect Joe Colborne and two draft picks.

Kaberle spent his entire career with the Maple Leafs, so this game at the Air Canada Centre versus Ottawa will certainly feel a little different for all in blue and white.

It was Toronto's third deal in nine days. The Maple Leafs also traded forward Kris Versteeg to Philadelphia for draft picks, and defenseman Francois Beauchemin to Anaheim for forward Joffrey Lupul.

So, what does this all mean, long term? Good question. But as bettors, what’s important is the now. And as we stand, the Maple Leafs are surprisingly playing pretty good hockey, despite the turnover. Toronto has won two straight and four of six.

Trouble in net

There was a Toronto injury this week, too. Goaltender J.S. Giguere left Thursday’s 2-1 win over Buffalo with a lower-body problem. While Giguere did term the injury “minor,” it does seem like he’ll miss time.

James Reimer appears like he’ll get the start Saturday. Minor leaguer Ben Scrivens may have to be the backup, unless general manager Brian Burke can work his magic again.

Wheelin’ and dealin’ in Ottawa, too

Don’t forget the Senators, when it comes to trades. They appear to be the busiest of all as we near the deadline.

On Friday, they acquired goaltender Craig Anderson from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for their own goalie, Brian Elliott.

Anderson, 29, has some upside, but is just 13-15-3 with a 3.28 goals-against average in 33 games this season. He could start versus Toronto.

The goalie swap was the Senators' fourth deal in eight days. They sent forward Mike Fisher to Nashville last week. And on Thursday, they sent left wing Jarkko Ruutu to Anaheim and center Chris Kelly to Boston. They received draft picks back in all three trades.

Who knows, depleted bench or not, maybe this will light a spark under a team that was 1-6 this month headed into Friday’s game versus Boston.

History

Think over with Ottawa. The lack of depth is starting to show, as it took a six-game over streak into Friday. And the stretch actually reached back to eight overs in the previous 10. As for this rivalry, it’s been pretty even with each team winning two. Interesting note: In both of Toronto’s wins, the score was 5-1.

Dallas Stars at Vancouver Canucks (-195, 5.5)

The nightcap features teams headed in different directions. Vancouver is steady as she goes, still winning games, still scoring goals and still putting distance between itself and the West. Dallas, on the other hand, is running out of gas.

Injury concerns

It hasn’t been all positive for the Canucks. They have had injuries along the back line. Defenseman Kevin Bieksa suffered a small break in his left foot this week vs. Minnesota. He is out indefinitely.

He joins a crowded defensive crew that includes Andrew Alberts, who is out up to two months with a broken wrist, and Alex Edler, out at least six more weeks following back surgery.

The shorthandedness hasn’t showed. Vancouver is 7-3 this month and is barreling toward the No. 1 seed in the West. If bettors can handle the price, the Canucks are easily still one of the best bets in the league.

Falling Stars

Dallas had such a great start and then acquired what it thought was some missing grit up front, in Jamie Langenbrunner. A return to the glory days of 1999-2000 seemed logical.

Then February happened.

Dallas is just 1-7 this month, has lost three in a row and hasn’t topped two goals in seven of its last 10 games.

Langenbrunner has been a bust, scoring just two goals in 16 games. And now, they have to face Vancouver on “Hockey Night in Canada?” Look out.

History

Perhaps Vancouver’s injury situation on the back line has created a stronger sense of defense up front. Whatever the case is, they have tightened up.

After an impressive run of five straight overs, the Canucks have now rolled up three straight unders, concluding with a 3-1 loss in Nashville Thursday. As for the series with the Stars, think Vancouver and the under. The Canucks have won all three matchups with ease, with only one contest going over.

Saturday's Best NHL Bets

Colorado Avalanche at San Jose Sharks (-230, 5.5)

The Avalanche had a huge goaltending issue the team decided to rectify before the trade deadline. Too bad, the team likely got worse between the pipes.

Colorado swapped starter Craig Anderson to Ottawa on Friday for goalie Brian Elliott. Anderson is having a horrid year, but was a fringe candidate for MVP last season and pretty much singlehandedly put the team into the postseason before suffering a myriad of injuries this year.

Elliott, meantime, is a horrid 1-11-5 in his past 17 starts. He has given up at least three goals over his past four starts and seven of his past eight. Also, Elliott won’t be able to play next week due to visa issues, meaning tire fire Peter Budaj will get the nod.
Over his past three games, Budaj has given up 12 goals and was actually pulled twice in a 9-1 loss to Calgary.

"I think for both parties, it was the right move," Avalanche coach Joe Sacco said after Colorado's practice this morning at Family Sports Center. "Craig gets a fresh start there and Brian gets a fresh start here."

On the other bench, the Sharks have won six of their past eight, including their two most recent games, a 3-2 win over Washington and a 2-1 win over Nashville.

Pick: San Jose

Dallas Stars at Vancouver Canucks (-195, 5.5)

It doesn’t matter that the Canucks are starting three rookies on the blueline – the Stars simply can’t score.

Vancouver will likely have first-year skaters Evan Oberg, Chris Tanev and Yann Sauve manning the rearguard against the Dallas stars when the teams faceoff. However, the rash of injuries that have forced 13 different defenders to dress for the team this season have done little to effect the team’s stingy spirit.

The Canucks lead the league in goals-against average, coughing up an average of just 2.3 goals per game.

And it’s not like Dallas can score without Brad Richards. By far the team’s leading scorer, Richards has missed the past two games with an undisclosed upper body injury, the first time he has missed the ice this season.

As a result, the team has been forced to unsuccessfully juggle its lines. Over the past two games, the team has dropped matchups with lowly Edmonton and surging Calgary by a combined score of 8-3.

“There’s never good timing for injuries, but because the games are so demanding right now, the games are going to be intense and injuries are part of the game,” Dallas coach Marc Crawford said. “We know we have to play a dig-in type of game and we’re going to have to get great performances from players who don’t generally get great opportunities to play.”

Pick: Vancouver
